As the pro wrestling community continues to mourn the loss of Chyna, the filmmaker who was behind the lens of a documentary about the former WWE Superstar vowed that the filming process will continue.

A day after Chyna passed away at the age of 45 on April 20, Erik Angra took to his Twitter account to make the following announcement:

The documentary is titled The Reconstruction of Chyna. On the project’s Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, which surpassed its goal of $10,000, Angra wrote last month:

“The film is well into production! As with all documentaries, situations change and grow, so we are going to continue to film for the next year and not miss a beat. Then editing, composing music, sound mix and the many aspects of post production will follow. I hope to have a final film for you in Spring of 2017.”

Angra added: “The story has become deeper and even more profound than I could have ever imagined. I would rather have a great film come out later than expected, than throw together something and push it out too soon. Chyna and all women who have gone through similar experiences deserve to have their stories told in the best way possible.”

Chyna, real name Joanie Laurer, spoke about the documentary during an interview with WrestlingInc.com last year.

“Here I am 15 years later trying to show all of these things I’m doing,” Chyna said last summer. “There’s an evolution that perhaps the media perception has not been favorable of. I’m going to change that. In changing that, I’m addressing all of these issues now.

“Find out why I’m not in the Hall of Fame. See what I’ve been up to for 15 years. Now I’m an executive producer on a documentary, that’s a pretty cool thing,” she continued. “I’ve been teaching corporate English in Tokyo for four years. I’ve been doing yoga. I’m a vegan. My entire lifestyle, on top of what I’ve accomplished in the ring. I want to show that stuff. I think it’s a compelling story I can tell that a lot of people can relate to.”

We can’t wait to see it.
