Defending champion Novak Djokovic and 17-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer advanced into the second round while French Open 2016 champion Gabrine Muguruza also advanced. Ava Inanovic failed to move on on Day 1 of Wimbledon.

Having finally rid himself of his French Open curse, Novak Djokovic is chasing a third successive Wimbledon title to move one step closer to the first calendar Grand Slam in 47 years.
