State Of Origin: NSW have completed their final training session in Brisbane ahead of the second State Of Origin game at Suncorp Stadium

Suncorp Stadium pulls a cheap trick during NSW’s captain’s run.

COINCIDENCE — or mental torture?

On Tuesday afternoon Suncorp Stadium management decided to show dozens of Queensland highlights on the arena’s big screen during NSW’s captain’s run.

As the Paul Gallen-skippered Blues swept through their final brief training session, Maroons tries flowed on the two big screens — which measure 10.6 metres x 5 metres.

Queensland Rugby League officials denied any knowledge of the incident.

“It’s the first I have heard about it — we have just arrived in Brisbane from the Gold Coast (where they had their camp),” a spokesman told The Daily Telegraph.

Brisbane media claimed the tries were being shown in preparation for a Queensland FOGs luncheon at Suncorp Stadium.

The Blues, however, weren’t convinced, as the highlights package was being showed at least an hour before the lunch was due to start.

“It seemed unusual they the replays happen to be on the big screen at the very time we were training,” A NSW source said. “It all try after try. All scored by the Maroons.”

The highlights package began with last year’s tries and kept going back through each series.

The NSW players essentially ignored the vision but Blues staff working at the ground were bemused at the timing.
