NRL: Luke Brooks has set up an easy try for Tim Simona with one of the passes of his career, a magical little flick pass that set his teammate up against the storm at AAMI Park.

James Tedesco pushed his call for a State of Origin call-up.

WESTS Tigers coach Jason Taylor says he can’t understand why fullback James Tedesco is not playing State of Origin, calling on NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley to select him in Game 3.

Tedesco was instrumental in the Tigers’ comeback on Sunday, scoring a try in his side’s 29-20 loss to Melbourne Storm at AAMI Park.

Taylor again called on Tedesco to be handed his Blues’ debut in the dead rubber at ANZ Stadium on July 13.

‘He’d done enough to warrant an Origin call up a few weeks ago,” Taylor said.

“He wasn’t in Origin I because he was injured and he should have been in Origin II and he should be in Origin III.

“I think it’s pretty simple and it’s clear to see.

“I don’t understand why he is not there and he should be there for Game III.”

The Tigers had won just once on 11 occasions in Melbourne heading into Sunday’s clash.

The hoodoo continued yesterday, despite the Tigers’ strong second half fightback.

“We are desperately disappointed about the fact we didn’t win the game because we showed we were good enough,” Taylor said.

“We probably beat ourselves in the first half with errors and we just found no momentum and Storm were really strong, but we helped them.

“The numbers were ridiculous in terms of the weight of possession we gave them and we turned it around.

“That was great and there was so much pride from the players in regards to their energy to turn that around, it was great to see.”

Tigers skipper Aaron Woods described the comeback as too little too late.

“We got back into the game, but 26 points is too many point to trail by at half-time.

“We did well to get it back 26-20, but the lead was too great.”
