WITH the first round of byes behind us it’s time to shift our focus from fattened up cash cows to well-rested premiums able to have an impact in the second half of the season.
Think Richmond, Adelaide and St Kilda.
Each team has a point to prove.
The Tigers are hungry to earn — back — the respect of the competition.
The Crows are hungry to snag a home elimination final — if not pinch a top-four spot.
The Saints are hungry to capitalise on the gains made in the first half of the season.
Collingwood is another team worth thinking about — namely, Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom — although given high break-evens we could wait a week before hitting the trade button.

So who are the best value premiums fresh off Round 13 byes?
Brett Deledio stands out for his affordability, scoring power and consistency. The Tiger’s price has fallen $83,5000 since the start of the season but his past five rounds have been brilliant — averaging 105.
Richmond’s fixture over the next month reads favourably for Deledio with games against Brisbane, Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs and Essendon.
Saint Leigh Montagna is another tempting option after dropping almost $120,000 from his starting price despite averaging a whisker under 100 points a game.
Down back, Crow Rory Laird is the standout unless you want to hand over the big bucks to get Blues Sam Docherty ($575,700) or Kade Simpson ($528,700).
TRADE TARGETS
Alex Rance ($477,500 def)
Avg: 98
Past 3 Round avg: 93
Past 5 Round avg: 91
Break-even: 93
Hasn’t scored below 84 since Round 2 and his price has dropped even though his average is slightly up on last year. Due for a massive score and plays Brisbane this weekend. Nearly $100k cheaper than Sam Docherty.
Brett Deledio ($525,300 fwd)
Avg: 97
Past 3 Round avg: 101
Past 5 Round avg: 105
Break-even: 128
Has been a SuperCoach star for a decade and has warmed up for a big run home with five scores of 91 and above in a row. Last year only Nat Fyfe, Todd Goldstein and Patrick Dangerfield outscored Deledio in the second half of the season. Remember: Brisbane.
Leigh Montagna ($479,600 mid/fwd)
Avg: 99
Past 3 Round avg: 87
Past 5 Round avg: 94
Break-even: 130
One stinker (45 points against Adelaide) has caused his price to plummet. Apart from that he hasn’t scored below 95 in seven weeks.
Jack Steven ($595,100 mid)
Avg: 110
Past 3 Round avg: 133
Past 5 Round avg: 130
Break-even: 104
One of the form midfielders in the comp — 130 average over his past five — is in just 8367 teams and would be a great point of difference for the run home.
Rory Laird ($471,900 def)
Avg: 96
past 3 Round avg: 95
Past 5 Round avg: 92
Break-even: 105
Punched out 112 last week in his second game back from a four-week lay off due to broken toe. A premium defender at sub-premium price.
Rory Sloane ($554,400 mid)
Avg: 106
Past 3 Round avg: 116
Past 5 Round avg: 117
Break-even: 89
The Crows are flying and so is Rory, scoring 114 and 139 in his past two games and averaging 117 over his past five. In just 6 per cent of teams.
