The Wyatt Family has been hampered by injuries recently, with Luke Harper being put out of action during the Road to WrestleMania last month and Bray Wyatt still getting over his injury.
However, that hasn’t stopped the faction from carving out its path of destruction on World Wrestling Entertainment. At WrestleMania 32 this past Sunday night, its members circled the Rock like vultures, before the Great One was bailed out by John Cena.
The next night on Monday Night Raw, the Wyatts regrouped enough to lay out the League of Nations following Sheamus and King Barrett’s match with the New Day. The capacity crowd seemed to appreciate them doing so, too, as it chanted, “Thank you, Wyatt” following their clearance of the other faction, possibly signaling a babyface turn for the crew.
As of Wednesday, though, the Wyatts have one word on their mind — Payback.
The dark, ornery group stars in the company’s brand new promo for the 2016 WWE Payback pay-per-view event on May 1, with Bray narrating the clip like only he can.
The question is: what kind of Payback will the Wyatts dish out, and who will be on the unenviable receiving end of that abuse?
Well, as it stands today, you’d have to think that the Wyatts will continue their assault on the League of Nations, setting up some potential fireworks between the groups on May 1.
However, the Wyatt Family could leave its mark on others, too. Having been shown up by Cena on the “Grandest Stage of Them All,” shouldn’t sit well with the bunch, especially Bray, who has had quite the heated feud with Cena in the past. That could put Cena back in his crosshairs.
Same goes for Brock Lesnar, upon whom the Wyatts already preyed at the Royal Rumble, eliminating him from the January event. They might have unfinished business with the Beast.
You never know … maybe Bray even has something cooked up for newly-crowned World Heavyweight champion Roman Reigns.
Whatever should transpire at Payback, it’s great that the company is hearing the cry from the WWE Universe to give the Wyatts more heat, especially Bray.
This is the same group that WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin flat-out said that the company isn’t booking correctly during a late-February rant.
“They’ve homogenized the Wyatt Family,” Austin said at the time. “They’ve got great music. They’ve got a great entrance. Bray cuts a hell of a promo and Luke Harper is starting to cut great promos. He has drastically improved, too, and I know this guy’s a veteran guy. These guys were some of the hottest guys in the company a year, a year and a half ago.”
Let’s see what their idea of Payback is in less than a month’s time, live on the WWE Network.
